Due to changing circumstances we have been forced to defer the MCUG Forum 2010 which was to have been on the 13th and 14th May. I am sorry about this. A new date and venue will be announced shortly. It is expected that the programme and speakers will be substantially as that published, subject of course to speaker availability, and also with the addition of items/speakers who were not available on... Practical limits to efficiency?

prospecthiilldetail

Spring is in the air, so field service teams will be looking forward to the joys of being out and about rather than huddling in the café and will stop envying their office bound colleagues. This month we celebrate sunny days by asking about the typical practical limits to efficiency and utilisation of typical field crew, we take a preview of the latest test and benchmark wireless software developed under the auspices of the MCUG, and we consider some novel alternative approaches to location for those who are lost and lonely – finally, is choosing just one mobile device... Come to the MCUG SME Clinic

SM Europe logo

Over the past two months we have trumpeted the return of our MCUG clinic at the Service Management event at NEC in October. The best way to approach such a large and comprehensive event as Service Management is to jot down your key requirements before you reach the door, and have down loaded the show guide from the service management web site a day or two before, and planed your campaign. If, when the doors of the NEC swing open, it ends up as being not-that-simple, a short reality check at the MCUG Consultants Clinic might help restore some... Read More...

Hotspots for South East Water

whatever

This month we look at the trials going on with MCUG member South East Water who are using WiFi to supplement their GPRS mobile data systems, We consider the sad demise of the door-to-door meter reader, and we wonder how remote workers feel without the cosy corporate bonding of the office coffee machine. In addition, and at long last, MCUG has a new logo, and a smart new web site that actually works. The web site has some innovations, such as a bulletin board, copies of past newsletters, current news, events lists, and an exchange for those with surplus,... Read More...

MCUG Forum 2010 Deferred

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE MCUG FORUM IS DEFERRED. IT WILL NOW NOT BE HELD ON MAY 13th & !4th. RE-VISIT THIS WEB SITE FOR REVISED DATES

Due to changing circumstances we have been forced to defer the MCUG Forum 2010 which was to have been on the 13th and 14th May. I am sorry about this. A new date and venue will be announced shortly. It is expected that the programme and speakers will be substantially as that published, subject of course to speaker availability, and also with the addition of items/speakers who were not available on the original dates.

The decision was taken despite considerable efforts from Rose, our Event Manager, to resolve challenges and square a circle which included issues with programme promotion timescales, venue costs, & availability of sponsor/exhibitors. All this had to be set against prudent management of the User Group’s limited resources. The programme and speaker panel remain excellent, with the broad range of topics the MCUG is noted for. You may imagine that this has been very frustrating for us in the MCUG secretariat.

We will almost certainly re-locate to a simpler venue, probably the lecture facilities in one of our larger members/partners corporate offices, or those from one of the regional agencies which are being offered. We will re-confirm the date and programme as soon as possible. The current programme is available for information. Deferred MCUG2010 Programme
