About the MCUG

Introduction

In 1996 a group of mobile technology users, senior managers in the major utility and emergency services, came together to form the MCUG as an informal private 'club'. These users were committed to devolving the benefits of IT usage to their mobile front line and 'blue collar' operations, and they wanted a forum in which to share and exchange ideas and pool common user requirements. OSYS technology were asked to facillitate the group. By 1998 MCUG activities developed to a stage where it was decided to open membership. Today, we estimate that our user members represent a latent mobile IT purchasing community of well over one hundred thousand mobile units. In most cases their mobile systems are now an integral and essential business component.
